The castle of Charles the 5th in Monopoli is a fortress from the XVI century built during the Spanish domination of the city.
It was part of a defensive system along with the city walls to protect the Apulian coast, completed under the regency of the emperor Charles the 5th and the supervision of the Marquis Don Ferrante Loffredo.
